I have found the best ally
Straight and cis people will say that they are allies, but you will NEVER measure up to my dentist.
Me: "Hey, is it ok if I can change my name on my info from [DEADNAME] to Aspen?"
Random woman that I wasn't even talking to in the chair next to me: "Honey, if that's the name you had at birth, [DEADNAME] is your only name."
My dentist, very slowly turning her rolley chair towards the woman: "Shush."
Random woman: "Excuse me?"
Destist: *closes privacy curtain while staring bullets at the lady*
Me: *pissing myself laughing*
My dentist while changing my name in my info (reminder that English is not her first language, she immigrated from Russia): "There, Sai, you have pretty boy teeth. Smile and make all girls swoon."
Me not having the heart to tell her I'm not transmasc but I'm Agender, and still pissing myself laughing: "Thank you [DENTIST NAME]."
Edit: Ok, this has gotten alot of attention, but right now my other posts is what really needs attention. I have a few fundraisers for people trying to evacuate Palestine and Gaza, but also a diabetic who needs her insulin shot. Please please please, go to my page and at the very least repost those posts, have the day you deserve and free Palestine🇵🇸

Remember when exactly one year ago today the world celebrated a bisexual woman being harassed by her abuser, and applauded him for successfully using the court system to further humiliate and hurt her. Remember when they showed his homophobic/transphobic texts in court—which he used as justification for his DV—and the jury decided that it didn’t really count. Remember when people waited outside the court house to hug and congratulate him for successfully getting away with it. On the first day of pride month.

Canada's intelligence agency is warning that extremists could "inspire and encourage" serious violence against the 2SLGBTQI+ community — a threat the Canadian Security Intelligence Service says almost certainly will continue over the coming year. CSIS's comments come as provincial policies on gender-affirming surgeries and pronoun preferences are being hotly debated across the country. "CSIS assesses that the violent threat posed by the anti-gender movement is almost certain to continue over the coming year and that violent actors may be inspired by the University of Waterloo attack to carry out their own extreme violence against the 2SLGBTQI+ community or against other targets they view as representing the gender ideology 'agenda,'" said CSIS spokesperson Eric Balsam in an email to CBC News.

A targeted lesbian killing happened in Hong Kong today at the hands of a lesbophobic man.
TRIGGER WARNING FOR LESBOPHOBIC VIOLENCE
----
No one intervened. No one helped.
Lesbians deserve the ability to have lives not centered on men. WE DESERVE THE ABILITY TO DENY MEN OUR BODIES AND OUR LIVES
We are killed and maimed and r/aped specifically for our refusal to include men in our lives
we are oppressed specifically due to our non-attraction to men and our refusal to center them
This is something that gay and bi people seem to be unable to understand. Our identity and our lives exclude men and the world will kill us to stop that from happening. We deserve to have the ability to protect and maintain non male spaces, identities, and lives.
Protect lesbian interests or be complicit in our deaths
(this post is made by a trans lesbian, and includes trans women and non-binary people. Do not read this as a bad faith post)

be a leftist and stop watching porn.
If you say you are a leftist and don't have fight against the porn industry, you aren't a fucking leftist.
If you equate pointing out disgusting things that happen in pornography to being a prude, you aren't a fucking leftist.
If you dismiss the countless instances of maltreatment of those involved in the porn industry, you aren't a fucking leftist.
If you look over the exploitation of marginalized groups by porn companies, you aren't a fucking leftist.
If you can't accept that porn companies have made MILLIONS of dollars off abuse, you aren't a fucking leftist.
If you dismiss victims of abuse because SOME people like making porn of themselves, you aren't a fucking leftist.
The porn industry makes bank off the abuse and fetishization of countless marginalized communities.
Spread awareness and education and call out "leftists" who still support porn while claiming to be pro worker.
Enjoy erotic art and literature from independent artists, have consensual sex, or use your imagination.
Call out the hypocrisy of so-called allies of women, people of color, gay people, workers, etc. watching porn.
Educate your friends and family, leftist or not, about the harm their porn consumption causes and help them find alternatives.
If you're truly leftist, feminist, anti-racist, anti-rape culture, pro-worker, etc. stop watching porn.
-
If you are suffering from a porn addiction and need support, feel free to talk to me as I've been there myself. It is not your fault.

not that we need statistics to feel the hate & effects of violence/violent rhetoric… i need to see politicians and media held accountable for their active roles and implicit support of terrorism against the queer community.
Escalating Right-Wing Attacks on the LGBTQ+ Community
Posted by Jay Ulfelder, September 30, 2022 Statistics: Crowd Counting Consortium
In 2022, the American right has sharply escalated its attacks on gay and transgender people and the broader queer community. This escalation shows up in the Crowd Counting Consortium’s data as a steep and sustained increase in the rate of right-wing demonstrations pushing anti-LGBTQ+ claims.
These anti-LGBTQ+ actions represent a still-modest but growing fraction of all right-wing protests and demonstrations in the U.S. In CCC’s data, the monthly share of right-wing events with anti-LGBTQ+ claims stayed at or close to zero from the start of collection in 2017 until mid-2022. By September of this year, however, it had increased to about 16 percent.
A substantial share of these recent anti-LGBTQ+ events have explicitly targeted transgender people.

Be safe this year at Pride events, especially if you have children with you. The anti-gay hate groups are itching to make trouble. Be careful out there.

everyday i wish real issues of transphobia directed at trans men were discussed by people whose only goal isn't to steal an imaginary spotlight from trans women
#there are only two people who know trans men exist#the ones who think we don't face oppression and are the most privileged group in the lgbt community the patriarchy's biggest allies#and the ones who take our violence statistics seriously but think 'anti masculism' is a thing and that trans women are somehow privileged

dear americans,
as a polish queer woman and human rights activist, i know exactly how you're feeling right now and what to expect from these elections. i lived through the 2015-2023 regime of pis, a right-wing populist party that divided families in the same way trump did. i’ve experienced the rise of fascism in poland, the influence of far-right parties like konfederacja, and their “santa’s little helpers”—ordo iuris, an ultra-conservative catholic organization (banned in many countries, mind you) that helped enforce a near-total abortion ban and runs anti-queer campaigns in public spaces. i supported the black protests in 2016 as a middle schooler when they first tried to ban abortion. as an adult, i actively participated in the 2020 women’s strike, running from police tear gas daily after they finally passed the ban. i supported friends who faced charges.
i’ve lived through intense homophobia in poland as a queer teen and adult. i survived the first pride march in my hometown, where far-right extremists threw stones and glass at us. i endured the anti-queer propaganda spread by the ruling party in state-owned media. i survived the “rainbow night,” poland’s own stonewall moment in summer 2020, when police arrested around 50 queer activists following the arrest of margo, a nonbinary activist. i survived the "lgbt-free zones," the targeted violence, the slurs from strangers on the street, and the protests i held against queerphobia. it was hard as fuck, but i survived.
but just because i survived, it doesn’t mean others did. many women died because of the abortion ban—marta, justyna, izabela, dorota, joanna, maria, and many others who didn’t survive pis’s draconian anti-abortion laws. milo, kacper, michał, zuzia (she was 12), wiktor, and other queer and trans kids and young adults took their own lives because of the relentless queerphobia.
despite all of this, our experience in poland can serve as a guide now. here are some tips for staying safe and how we, polish queers and women, organized under the regime:
safety first, always. if you know someone who’s had an abortion, no you don’t. if you know someone is trans, no you don’t. if you know people who help with safe abortions, no you don’t—at least not until you know it’s 100% safe to share. if you are queer or have had an abortion, only share this with people you trust fully. most importantly, not everyone has to be an activist just because they’re part of a minority. if it feels unsafe to share that you're queer, trans, etc., then don’t. it doesn’t make you any less queer.
use secure, encrypted messaging like signal for conversations on potentially risky topics, such as queerness, abortion, organizing counter-actions, protests—anything that might be used against you.
stay anonymous online. if you want to research or report something without surveillance, do not use regular internet. get a vpn (mullvad is affordable and reliable), download the tor browser (for both onion and standard links), and if you plan to whistleblow, consider using a riseup email account.
organize and build networks. community is everything now. support each other, foster independence, because your government won’t have your back. set up collectives, grassroots movements. create lists of trusted professionals—lawyers, doctors, etc.—who can offer support.
to lawyers and doctors: please consider pro-bono work. this is what got us through poland’s hardest times. your work will be needed now more than ever.
for protests or risky actions: always write a pro-bono lawyer’s number on your arm with a permanent marker.
get to know the anarchist black cross federation and other resources on safety culture: "Starting an anarchist black cross group: A guide"; Still We Rise - A resource pack for transgender and non-gender conforming people in prison; Safe OUTside the system by the Audre Lorde Project;
for safe abortion info or involvement: get familiar with womenhelpwomen.
stay radical, stay strong, stay informed: The Anarchist Library
if i forgot to (or didn't) include something, don't hesitate to reblog this post with other resources.

Violence and harassment against LGBTQ people in Europe have reached a “new high” in the past few years, according to a survey published Tuesday (14 May) by the European Union’s rights agency. Even as more LGBTQ people feel able to be open about their identities, the discrimination they face “remains high”, with “more violence, harassment and bullying” than before, the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) found. In one of the biggest surveys of its kind, FRA questioned more than 100,000 LGBTQ people in the 27 EU member states, as well as Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia. The survey found that 14% of respondents reported experiencing a physical or sexual attack in the five years before the survey was conducted in 2023, with intersex people facing most violence. That represents a rise of three points since FRA carried out a similar survey in 2019. In a sign of “gradual progress” in openness, 36% of those surveyed experienced discrimination in the 12 months before the survey, down from 42% reported in 2019.

When fighting for one's rights, there is no line too far, no wound too deep to leave on our oppressors.
I know it's common to say that "sexuality isn't a war", but it is - it's always been one, and as long as people like DeSantis and Trump, it will always be one. All we can do is ensure that we win it
And if you ever think that we're in the wrong - remember Brianna Ghey. Remember Brandon Teena. Remember Pranshu Yadav.
Tragic deaths, caused by what we are fighting.
Do not give up the fight - no matter how hopeless it may seem, and, in the words of Dylan Thomas, "Do not go gentle into that good night"

Brennan’s statement on Palestine :
[ ID: Statement from Brennan Lee Mulligan, on Instagram. It consists of three black squares with plain white text. The text reads as follows:
"I'm calling on my government officials to immediately demand a ceasefire and de-escalation in Gaza.
I applaud anyone and everyone calling for peace, with the understanding that real peace only exists if it deeply and honestly accounts for and fully ends violence in all its forms. Real peace addresses and corrects wrong-doing in the past and guards against it in the future. It goes hand in hand with justice and requires truth, restoration, reconciliation, reparation.
Peace cannot co-exist with collective punishment, ethnic cleansing and forced displacement. It cannot co-exist with blockades, embargoes, or with 2.2 million people, half of which are children, trapped with no hope of escape or political recourse. it cannot co-exist with murdered journalists, bombed hospitals, or years of protesters being shot and killed at the border. it cannot co-exist with illegal settlements, segregated roads, and the silent, imperial chill that settles over the gaps in the violence - the unspoken geopolitical consensus that a group of people need to unflinchingly accept permanent subjugation and occupation.
My hear breaks for every Israeli person who lost loved ones during the attacks of October 7th. It breaks for every Ukrainian person who has lost their loved ones. It breaks for every Congolese person who has lost their loved ones. I do not speak on behalf of Palestinians now because some lives are worth more than others. I speak on their behalf because I, and all Americans, have a responsibility to pressure our government because we are responsible for this. Some have said that this situation is complicated. The Unites States government clearly disagrees. It has definitively, categorically, militarily chosen a side, and I do not agree with that decision.
In wiring this, I have been wrestling with what I am sure many people like me wrestle with: There is a powerful narrative surrounding violence in the Middle East that asserts and ever-moving goalpost of self-education and study in order to even be qualified to have an opinion. As someone with a love of research, I have at times in my life fallen into the trap that I am not educated enough clever enough, or aware enough to have a worthwhile perspective, and that three more articles and two more lectures and one more book will do the trick. Unfortunately, democracy doesn't work that way - we, the citizens of any democracy, cannot possibly be experts on every aspect of the policies of our governments, and yet if we do not constantly weigh in an make our voices heard, the entire experiment falls apart. Not only do people constantly doubt themselves and the things they can see with their own two eyes, but old shortcuts for political action can fall apart as well: This specific issue exists along a raw, charged and unique faultline in American Politics. Nobody I grew up with has ever challenged me on my support for abortion rights, LGBT rights, Black Lives Matter, anti-capitalism, anti-fascism, none of it. The people in my country who would despise me for those positions are, for all intents and purposes, strangers to me. But there are people who I've broken bread with and shared honest affection with who will see the words I've written here and incorrectly conclude that I do not wish for the security, dignity and happiness of them and their loved ones, and that breaks my fucking heart. Full-throatedly condemning the actions of the Israeli government while battling rampant anti-semitism at home is an urgent moral necessity, and doing so is made unnecessarily challenging for the average person to navigate by the pointed obfuscations of cynical opportunists, bigots, and demagogues on all sides of the political spectrum who see some advantage in sowing that incredibly dangerous confusion.
So, I'm calling my representatives. I'm having hard conversations with friends and family. I'm here, talking to you. I should have done it sooner. If you're Israeli and hurt by this statement, know that I want freedom, dignity, security and peace for you, and that every ounce of my political awareness believes whole-heartedly that the actions of your government are not only destroying innocent lives, but doing so to the detriment of you and your loved ones' safety. If you're American and feel lost and confused - I understand and empathize. This, the whole country, only works when we get involved. I am constantly haunted by the specter that maybe I missed some crucial piece of information on this, or any, important world event. I'll just have to make my peace with that self-doubt and trust my gut by going with Jewish Voice for Peace, Amnesty International, the Geneva Conventions, the United Nations, etc. And if you're Palestinian and reading this: I unreservedly support your right to life, to freedom, to happiness and human flourishing, to full enfranchisement and equal rights, to opportunity, prosperity and abundance, to the restoration of stolen property and land, and to a Free Palestine." End ID ]

On This Day, or, Cyka Blyat
Don’t turn off your TV set. Keep watching the “most exciting World Cup ever.” While you do that, actual Russians and some non-Russians (i.e., Oleg Sentsov) are suffering horribly for the near-absolute power Russia’s Emperor of Ice Cream and his retinue have acquired over the last twenty years. It was this same power (and the money that comes with it) that made it possible for the Emperor of Ice…
